This article reviews an Air China's flight CA406, which departs from Nagoya, Japan (NGO) to Shanghai, China (PVG). CA406 is actually the only Air China's flight from Nagoya to Shanghai while there are four flights per day provided by China Eastern Airlines.

Summary

  • Having lunch before the flight is strongly recommended
  • No individual in-flight entertainment
  • The in-flight meal is only a small assort of fruits and snacks

Before the Flight

It is strongly recommended that you have lunch before the flight.
An in-flight meal is provided on CA406, but it is only a small assort of snacks and fruits as written in the latter part. You are required to arrive at the airport around noon considering CA406's departure time, so there would be some (but not plentiful) time to eat lunch at one of the airport resutaurants.

Equipment

The equipment used for CA406 is Airbus 321, a narrow body plane without indivisual in-flight entertainment. I thought the three-hour flight without the in-flight entertainment might be too boring especially for children when I saw some of them shouting in a loud voice...
You can ask cabin crews for headphones if you want to listen to the sound of movies shown on the displays coming down from the ceiling.

In-flight Meal

As mentioned above already, the in-flight meal of CA406 is an assort of snacks and fruits. This would be probably because of the departure time (14:15/14:45), which is slightly late for lunch. If still full from lunch, don't worry, you can just have fruits on the plane and take snacks away.

One thing I noticed is that the dora-yaki (one of typical Japanese sweets) package has the logo of Air China. I know quite a few Japanese companies have partnerships with Chinese counterparts, but even manufacturers of traditinal sweets do so...such a global age.
